Ahh, it's on again in half an hour. That's the rest of my night/life sorted.

Bryn, why did it open with a gopher blowing me a kiss, but then cut to a joke-free introduction of a guy running across a golf course set to Queen?

And I don't mean joke-free as in not funny, I mean there weren't even any bad jokes.

Is this a drama? scratch

Okay, fifteen minutes in without a joke, so it's definitely a drama. Sort of quirky, though. Did Wes Anderson direct this? I didn't see his name on the credits, but I get that vibe.

If he didn't then I really can't explain the gopher puppet, because he sticks out like a sore thumb. Still, he's easily the most charismatic actor on-screen so far, so he's alright with me.

Why has the gopher puppet been replaced with a plot about a dispute over a construction permit and why has Jackie Mason's cringingly unfunny cameo lasted for over half an hour? Mad

My god, the gopher puppet must have realised how much the movie needed him because he trailed the film crew to some sort of Butlins fetish club just to steal a few seconds of screen time from Jackie and his shiny blue gimp suit.

Oh man, it's finally over.

I gotta hand it to you, Bryn. You promised me a bad movie, and you fucking delivered. Not a goodbad movie, though. That was possibly the most miserable thing I've forced myself to sit through in years; and I saw Requiem for a Dream the other week.

God, I'm depressed. Disheartened

It's okay, after that I found a really enjoyable and well-written film from the 30's on youtube which restored my faith in film at the very last moment.

Fucking close call, though. Remind me never to ask what other dreadful films you recommend.

I actively seek shit films out, but that was almost too much for me. I now have a deep resevoir of newly-won respect for Bryn. The man has mettle.

Oh, Morvern Callar was so bad that even though we saw it in the cinema, we walked out in the middle....

And Lost in Translation was mind numbingly boring...

No, no, Maayan. Sweet, naive Maayan. I'd take five consecutive rewatches of Lost in Translation before I'd sit through Caddyshack II again.

Know yee and be warned.

I remember something I wanted to ask. Tink, if you're periodically clicking on this thread and leaving right away then please stop whilst I ask you if you've ever seen The Thin Man.

Tink, have you ever seen The Thin Man? I think you would very much enjoy it, and there's a great copy of it currently on Youtube.

Edit: You probably would too, Maayan, but Tink was the first lady I thought of. Please do not be offended.

It's a murder-mystery from the 1930s set just after prohibition was abolished and starring this rich, boozy married couple called Nick and Nora who spend the whole film shooting snarky comments at each other whilst getting totally wasted.

It was, in a word: brilliant. And in another few words: very amusing.

Whilst watching I just imagined you would definitely appreciate the tone and humour and well-to-do silliness of it all.

It's broken up into 9 ten minute videos on youtube. Here's the first one...

One quick disclaimer, though: The first ten minutes take up establishing the whole murder-mystery part. The boozy couple aren't introduced until the next video, but if you watch the whole thing I think you will really enjoy it, and now I'm intrigued to know if I'm right, so if you have time, let me know what you thought afterwards.
