Tenacious D - Best of this weekend (Reading'08)
The Enemy - What the fuck was all the random bread carnage about?

I was actually surprised by Plain white T's as I thought they'd get bottled off but didn't.

What was the D's setlist like? I've never seen them live.

Opeth and Alestorm stole the show for me at Bloodstock, but Swallow the Sun; Communic; Overkill and Destruction get honourable mentions. Didn't bother with Dimmu Borgir or Nightwish.

'Tom Traubert's Blues', it just did something weird to my head. Amazing concert.

I cant remember exactly, but they came on, Jack in a Wizard cloak and Kyle in a Lizard outfit, did Kickapoo (i think?) and then had an argument about how stupid Kyle looked in his Lizard suit and then did Kyle quit the band, then dude i totally miss you, then they did the metal, wonderboy, tribute, beezleboss, master exploder, fuck her gently, and possibly baby. I can't remember anything else or which order it was exactly, and I dont think they played POD.

Black Mountain is my biggest stand out, first band of the day on sunday at glasto, still pissed out of my head and covered in mud from my drunken accident the night before, and the mountain just uplifted me (could of been the rum still taken affect), so fucking good.

Hot Chip also get mention, as do British Sea Power and Spiritualized.

The Bee's at lounge on the farm were pretty good too.

Primal Scream at Hop Farm seemed to be the best thing since sex itself, at the time. Can't remember much of it, but I had a hell of a lot of fun. And Hives at Get Loaded, once of the most enjoyable sets I've ever seen - musically, probably not, but in terms of full-on showmanship, it was right up there with the best of 'em.

The National closing the John Peel stage, Vampire Weekend's first performance on the Other Stage and Jimmy Cliff headlining the Jazz World stage are the major highlights for me.

Couldn't have been anything else, really. Mind you, "Pony" would have got me going.

What time of year do they usually announce the Reading line-ups? I take it we won't hear anything 'til about March...

That's a great song. It's weird, I think 'Mule Variations' is probably my least favourite album of his, which is a pretty controversial and unpopular opinion amidst his devotees. That said, despite its popularity, the selection he played from that album in the concert was the most indifferently received of the entire evening. I was dreading the overlong, tedious 'Get Behind The Mule', but whaddyaknow, he played it anyway. During his brief piano set, he must've gauged the crowd's muted response to 'House Where Nobody Lives', cos he scrapped it after singing the first line. However, the radically different version of 'Eyeball Kid' he sang as an encore was great. He put on a mirrored bowler hat and made himself a human glitterball. And the intro was pretty cool too:

Haha, I've always been a fan of "House Where Nobody Lives." Did he play anything from Bone Machine? Aside from "The Heart of...," "Closing Time" and "Blue Valentines," "Bone Machine" is probably my favourite.

'Bone Machine' is definitely one of my favourites too. He played a pretty upbeat version of 'Jesus Gonna Be Here', which was ace. He played 'Dirt In The Ground', too. I know he also played 'Goin' Out West', 'Such A Scream' and even fucking 'Murder In The Red Barn' at other shows on this tour too, but alas, not at mine Crying or Very sad

"Goin' Out West" and "Jesus Gonna be Here" are my faourites from that album, so it's awesome that he played them.
